If you missed the Katrina Benefit Reading put on by Stephen Elliott, Matthew Iribarne, and the Progressive Reading Series at the Makeout Room last week, don’t despair, you can still pretend you were there. For auction here at Sans Serif is an event poster signed by all fourteen of the participating authors: Daniel Handler (aka Lemony Snicket), Firoozeh Dumas, Julie Orringer, Peter Orner, Daphne Gottlieb, Kaui Hart Hemmings, Truong Tran, Michelle Richmond, Anne Marino, Micheline Aharonian Marcom, Tom Barbash, Andrew Sean Greer, Kirk Read, and San Francisco favorite Michelle Tea.

Proceeds will go to the Louisiana Disaster Recovery Foundation.

Here’s how it works. Place your bid by sending me an email–pietime at gmail dot com–or hitting the comment button below. Bidding starts at $50. Before you start calculating just how many double soy lattes fifty bucks would buy you, take note that this very poster went for one hundred bucks at the Makeout Room. Of course, the winning bidder there got a kisses from the authors, but hey, this is even better. You don’t have to kiss anyone, but you can say you did. Bidding starts now and goes for one week (until noon Wednesday, Oct. 5). The winner will then make out a check to the Louisiana Disaster Recovery Foundation, send it to me, and I’ll send you one very hot little poster, which you can affix to the wall above your bed, so that all who tarry there will think, “Gee! You’re friends with all these fabulous writers? That’s so sexy!” and fun times will surely ensue.
