May Queen report

April 4th, 2006 by Michelle

Reading at ACLWP last night was delightful. Events manager Wendy Sheanin said it was the largest group of readers she’d ever had for a single event–ten of us in all, each reading about a page and a half from our essays for The May Queen. Afterwards, we headed over to the Hotel Rex, where I ended up participating in the Bat Segundo Show podcast, which Ed Champion will put up at some undisclosed time in the future. On the show were: Editor Nicki Richesin, Kim Askew, Heather Juergensen (Kissing Jessica Stein), Erin Erginbright (The Ex-Boyfriend Cookbook), Meghan Daum (My Misspent Youth, The Quality of Life Report), and yours truly. Also at the reading were contributors Erin Cressida Wilson (Secretary), Flor Morales, and musician Carla Kihlstedt.

Over time it has evolved into a more eclectic venture, with posts on books, politics, current events, literary happenings in the San Francisco Bay Area, publishing news, the writing life, and writing exercises.
