Why Are You Reading This…

May 21st, 2006 by Michelle

when you could be having coffee, sex, or a nice hike through the Marin Headlands? And why the hell am I writing it? In the Annals of the Obvious, CNN reports that some people are, um, addicted to the internet, and the addiction is “adversely affecting their lives and their family’s lives.” Ahem, have you checked the children lately? Where’s the husband? The wifey? When’s the last time you saw the sun or got exercise that did not put you at risk for metacarpal syndrome?

Introducing Michelle’s Monday Challenge (from here on out a semi-regular feature): Don’t surf today unless it involves an actual swell of the saltwater kind. You can check your email (limit: 30 minutes), but none of the other stuff. I SO bet you can’t do it! I’m taking the challenge myself, beginning 12:00 midnight on the cusp of Monday. Anyone who can somehow bust me by way of his or her statcounter gets a suprise gift!

About Sans Serif

Sans Serif began as a literary blog in September of 2005. Over time it has evolved into a more eclectic venture, with posts on books, politics, current events, literary happenings in the San Francisco Bay Area, publishing news, the writing life, and writing exercises. This blog is written by Michelle Richmond, author of four books of fiction: The Year of Fog, Dream of the Blue Room, The Girl in the Fall-Away Dress, and No One You Know (forthcoming, 2008).
