Juniper Prize for Fiction

From the UMass Press website: Since 1976, the University of Massachusetts Press has annually awarded the Juniper Prize for Poetry, publishing the winning collection of poems in book form. Since 1990, it has also published the annual winner of the AWP Grace Paley Prize competition. In 2004, in collaboration with the UMass Amherst MFA Program for Writers and Poets, the Press established a third contest—the Juniper Prize for Fiction—to honor and publish outstanding works of literary fiction. The prize carries a cash award of $4,000 in addition to royalties.

Deadline:
Submissions will be accepted between August 1 and September 30, 2006. The winning manuscript will be published in spring 2008. Novels, novellas, and collections of stories are all eligible. Get the details here.

p.s. UMass published my first book in 2001. Needless to say, I adore them. They were great to work with and are really serious about promoting literary fiction.
