Lauren Barnholdt, author of Reality Chick, stops by with her literary soundtrack.

1) the soundtrack to your latest book (what did you listen to while you were writing it?)
Oooh, I listened to all kinds of stuff while writing REALITY CHICK. A lot of Gavin Degraw, Lifehouse, and Matchbox Twenty. Also a lot of pop music like Christina, Destiny’s Child, Britney… I find that upbeat pop music gets me pumped up to write, even if the songs don’t really have anything to do with what I’m writing. Oh, there’s also this song called SCANDALOUS by a group named Mis-teeq that I listened to a lot. I think it had an effect on the book, because my editor emailed me and was like, “The copyeditor noticed you use the word ‘scandal’ or ‘scandalous’ on pages 3, 5, 6, 21, 47, 49, etc. You may want to consider changing some of them.” Haha.

2) one song title (from any album) that would make a great book title

I think PIECES OF ME by Ashlee Simpson would be an awesome title for a book. I love books where the heroine learns a lot about herself during the course of the novel, and this sounds like it would be one of those books..
