Mary Volmer sent me this link to a ha-ha about similes in The Onion, entitled, appropriately, “My Use of Simile Sucks as Bad as the River Tide.” Read it! It’s funny! Now I have to stop using exclamation points! It denotes a level of enthusiasm that I can rarely manage in actual conversation, and therefore seems to ring a bit false!
