first review for THE YEAR OF FOG

January 22nd, 2007 by Michelle

I’m happy to report that I can breathe a bit easier now that the first review is in for THE YEAR OF FOG (March). From Publisher’s Weekly:

“In this spare page-turner, Richmond draws complex tensions from the set-up of a child gone missing…The book’s twist on missing child stories is wholly effective. The book is beautifully paced–one feels Abby’s clarity of purpose from the first page. The sure-handed denouement reflects the focus and restraint that Richmond brings to bear throughout.”

The entire review is available here.

Reviewed in the same issue: Wang in Love and Bondage: Three Novellas, by Wang Xiaobo
trans. from the Chinese by Hongling Zhang and Jason Sommer.
As the reviewer says fans of Gao Xingjian’s Soul Mountain will get a kick out of these novellas, it’s going at the top of my TBR.
