three books etc.

The reading at Kepler’s on Monday night with Ann Cummins was fun–lovely to hear her read from Yellowcake, which is just out and getting rave reviews. A few of us sat down for a glass of wine before the reading, and Nancy Salmon, bookseller extraordinaire, informed me that The Year of Fog topped Kepler’s bestseller list in fiction last week. The complete list is here.

Yesterday, I read at CCA with Ann Joslin Williams, whose debut story collection, The Woman in the Woods, is just out from Eastern Washington University Press, and Gloria Frym, whose latest poetry collection, Solution Simulacra, was published by United Artists Books in September. Teresa Walsh (Body Revolution), who organized the event, gave out tulips and chocolate.

This week at University of San Francisco: Emerging Writers Festival at University of San Francisco, featuring Ann Joslin Williams, Daniel Alarcon, and Oliver de la Paz, & others. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find a website with an event schedule, but you can find out more by calling 415-422-6076.

And the latest Bat Segundo shows feature China Meliville, Ellen Klages, Arlene Goldbard, and Ken Adler.

Over time it has evolved into a more eclectic venture, with posts on books, politics, current events, literary happenings in the San Francisco Bay Area, publishing news, the writing life, and writing exercises.
