tonight at Litquake

October 10th, 2007 by Michelle

From the Litquake website:

We can’t promise he’ll wear a fez or play the accordion, as he’s been known to do at his public appearances, but Daniel Handler (best known as the lyrically strange Lemony Snicket) will do his best to spice up the author Q&A format as he interviews Pulitzer Prize winner Jane Smiley (Ten Days in the Hills), no slouch in the wit department herself.

7 p.m. at the Delancey St. Foundation, 600 Embarcadero. $15

Tonight’s two other events–Kidquake and the Ann Patchett reading–are sold out, but there are several free events tomorrow night, and of course there’s the wonderfully wild and literary Litcrawl on Friday night.

I attended the Smiley event. It was great. Smiley said about her novel “Ten Days In The Hills” that she did not wish to sexualize the novel. She wished instead, to novelize sexuality. I am now going to read it, mixed reviews notwithstanding.
