The Magic Theatre/Z Space will be presenting a staged reading of Lynne Kaufman’s play ANAIS–about that mad-cap diarist and romantic pioneer, Anais Nin, and her many lovers — Monday, January 14th at 7pm. at The Magic Theatre, Building D. Fort Mason Center. Will Marchetti directs. For reservations call 415 441-8822. $10 suggested donation.

Speaking of amore, Story Quarterly is having a Love Story Contest. Deadline March 31. First prize $2,500. “The subject is love in any and all of its varieties and incarnations — familial, filial, romantic, platonic, the love of place, nature, animals, possessions, beauty, or truth, love that is intellectual, erotic, patriotic, real or imagined, fulfilled or denied, tragic or comedic.”
