Cindy McCain / Vicki Iseman

Here’s John McCain’s press conference about the Vicki Iseman allegations. Watch his wife Cindy, particularly at 7:20, when a reporter asks whether his aides asked him to stop seeing Iseman, and again at 9:34 when a reporter asks if he has seen Iseman, and at 13:25 when asked when he last saw Iseman. She looks pretty interested in hearing his answers, and her posture and facial expression visibly change when these questions come up. I don’t care if McCain slept with Iseman (he says he did not, and Cindy says she trusts him), only whether a close relationship with a lobbyist led to political favorotism. Interesting to see Rove-esque tactics used against a Republican.

McCain also denies ever speaking to anyone at the New York Times, until a reporter quotes an editor at the New York Times about a conversation he had with McCain.

Vicki Iseman, Cindy McCain

The Huffington Post (where I found the above image) has interesting coverage of the brouhaha. I especially like Huffington’s comparison of photos of Iseman and Cindy McCain. Given the resemblance, it’s totally possible that Mr. McCain accidentally slept with Iseman, having justifiably mistaken her for his wife. Cindy’s out having her hair shellacked, pale skinny blond walks in wearing hot pink…honest mistake!
