today in TV land…

June 25th, 2008 by Michelle

Today in TV Land, rock journalist, memoirist, and radio personality Ben Fong-Torres writes about how he came to be a character in my new novel, No One You Know. He writes about how we met, and how I fudged the truth, and what it feels like to show up as oneself–although not exactly oneself–in somebody else’s fiction. Read more of Ben’s blog posts here on redroom.

And over at Meg Waite Clayton’s (The Wednesday Sisters) blog 1st books, wherein Meg asks writers about how they got their first break in writing, I talk about the dingy apartment in Knoxville, TN, where, back in 1993 and fresh out of college, I began writing the stories that would eventually appear in my first book, The Girl in the Fall-Away Dress.

For Florinda at The 3rs, I wrote about how my fourth-grade teacher had me pegged, in terms of not finishing what I started.
