Today on The Rumpus

Margaret Cardillo interviewed me for The Rumpus, and asked me all sorts of surprising questions. Read the interview here.

Margaret, a former editor at Hyperion Books, is currently a James Michener Fellow at the University of Miami. Eleven years ago, I was exactly where she is now (except for, well, I’d never been an editor in New York, and I didn’t already have a book deal, which she does–a children’s book about Audrey Hepburn that will be published by Harper Collins in 2010.) I’ll be meeting Margaret and the other MFA candidates in a couple of months when I visit my alma mater for the first time since graduation to give a reading. Also reading will be a fellow who was in the program with me–Terrence Chang–author of the critically acclaimed novel Sons of Heaven.
