If you think writers are full of it, this is the event to attend, because rarely does the evening end without at least one writer suffering some form of public humiliation. Briefly in Britain

The current issue of UK’s Star Magazine features No One You Know, and gives it four (out of five) stars. Gotta love British brevity. The review in its entirety reads: When Lila is violently murdered, her sister Ellie doesn’t know where to turn. Years later, off the beaten track in Nicaragua, she meets the man accused of the murder. Maintaining his innocence, he gives her Lila’s diary, leaving Ellie to unravel the mystery of her sister’s life.

A novel of forgiveness

My friend Holly Payne, author of The Virgin’s Knot and The Sound of Blue, has a new novel coming out in July, Kingdom of Simplicity. Payne wrote the novel in response to a letter she received from the drunk driver who struck her when she was 22 years old. It took her a year to walk again. Fifteen years after the accident, she responds to the driver’s plea for forgiveness with this book. You can read an excerpt here. What’s with the earbuds?

What’s with the earbuds?

I just came across this product at Barnes and Noble.com. There’s an audio version of THE YEAR OF FOG being sold “with earbuds.” What does that mean? From the picture, it looks like the audio is fully packaged, and all you have to do is turn it on–i.e. you don’t need play it on anything. It simply plays itself. I find this very confusing.
