Okay, so we destroyed our expensive digital Leica six months after purchase on a trip to the beach. We’ve had bad luck with digital cameras. We left one on an airplane while returning from Cabo years ago, and lost all our vacation pics. One was stolen out of my sister’s car in the Mission, so we lost all the photographs of the first few months of my pregnancy. A couple have broken, and then this latest disaster with the beach. (Turns out the camera can withstand all sorts of bumps and bruises, but not sand.) So this time we’re going with a cheap camera, on the assumption that all of our cameras meet an unfortunate end. The Canon Powershot SD 1200IS is only $169.00 today on Amazon, it has great customer reviews, and it comes in a lot of snazzy colors, including this fun orange. I’m tempted to buy two–one for backup.
