screen blogs

I just found this highly readable blog by a long-winded and witty screenwriter…came across it by googling “screenwriter blog,” because, lo & behold and heavens-to-betsy, THE YEAR OF FOG is being optioned for film, and I know not one iota about what goes on in our fair state south of Half Moon Bay, so I figured I’d do some homework. I’ll wait ’til the ink is dry to divulge the details. Anyway, Josh Friedman named his blog, and his kid, after his favorite Samuel Clemens character.

If Friedman’s too manic for your taste, here’s another, gentler screenwriting blog, The Artful Writer. And here’s yet another, with charts and everything, The Unknown Screenwriter–big on info but hard on the eyes. This one by John August is partially devoted to answering readers’ questions about screenwriting. And I like this guy because he understands what it’s like to only be able to see a movie when you can find a babysitter–which happens, in our life, to be about once every three or four weeks.
