woo-hoo, it’s my birthday…

and a national holiday to boot. Took a walk with Kevin out at Crissy Field. We saw the booms that had been laid out in the Bay to prevent seepage of oil onto the beach, but no oil slicks were visible. Lots of camera crews just standing around. Beaches and piers closed off. Out at Ocean Beach yesterday, a guy from the National Park Service beach patrol told me that it is still unsafe to play in the sand, even though the most visible damage from the oil spill is on beaches north of Ocean Beach, such as Baker and China beaches.
