summer reading

The San Francisco Chronicle lists “titles of interest” coming out in the next couple of months.

Among them, Paul Auster’s Man in the Dark (I’ll be interviewing Auster in September for City Arts and Lectures), Jack Pendarvis’s Awesome (read it! Jack’s an old friend of mine from Alabama, we met in a place called The Haunted Bookshop in Mobile when I was 18 years old, one day I’ll write about it here), Ellen Sussman’s anthology Dirty Words: An Encyclopedia of Sex (which has been getting lots of press and which landed Ellen in Penthouse), Andre Dubus II’s The Garden of Last Days, Uwem Akpan’s story collection Say You’re One of Them, and, shameless self-promo here, my new novel No One You Know. There are also several debut novels in the list, so check it out.

Also out in June: Meg Waite Clayton’s wonderful novel set in Palo Alto, The Wednesday Sisters.
