Is McCain Afraid to Debate

On the same day that a new ABC-Washington Post Poll revealed that Obama’s lead has widened considerably during the financial crisis, McCain has asked to have Friday night’s presidential debate at Ole Miss delayed. He says he wants to get to Washington to work on the financial crisis, but if one looks at everything he has said since the crisis began, it is clear that he has no economic plan. Barack’s lead likely has a great deal to do with the fact that McCain has clearly supported deregulation of the banking industry, and has been a huge supporter of the Bush administration’s failed policies. Only recently, McCain said that deregulation had worked so well in the banking industry that we should apply the same deregulation to the health care industry.

McCain wants the debate postponed because he knows Obama will wipe the floor with him. And he is calling for an end to campaigning because he’s taking federal campaign funds, while Obama is not. This means Obama needs donations to run his campaign, while McCain can coast along on federal funding. This is an obvious attempt to avoid answering to the issues in the debate, while gutting Obama’s campaign contributions in the weeks leading up to the election. Once again, McCain proves he’s not ready to provide answers or solutions…he’s playing games instead, betting on the stupidity of the American public in the hopes that we won’t recognize his true motives
