Sarah Palin & the Land of the Lost

A lot of things scare me about Sarah Palin. Here are a few:
1) Sarah Palin belongs to a freaky cult movement called Third Wave, whose mission is to is to train “a young “Joel’s Army” to take dominion over the United States and the world.” In June, she spoke to young Third Wave disciples during their Masters Commission graduation and said, among other things, that Jesus was sending them off to wage war across the globe. Sound scary? It is. Bruce Wilson reports for Huffington Post:

The Third Wave is based on the idea that in the end times there will be an outpouring of supernatural powers on a group of Christians that will take authority over the existing church and the world. The believing Christians of the world will be reorganized under the Fivefold Ministry and the church restructured under the authority of Prophets and Apostles and others anointed by God.

2) Sarah Palin thinks science is a bunch of nonsense. According to the Anchorage Daily News, Palin wants creationism taught in schools, despite the fact that it is a clear violation of the separation of church and state. AND, despite the rallying cry of thousands of world-renowned scientists who have made it their life’s work to study the earth, she thinks people have nothing to do with global warning. In other words, she thinks she knows more than the scientists…even as gigantic blocks of ice keep breaking off of major glaciers.
3) Sarah Palin believes that if you’re raped by a stranger, or your cousin, you have no right to terminate the pregnancy. If McCain is elected and passes away, she will very likely be in a position to pack the Supreme Court with people who believe the same.
4) During her short time in office, she has made a habit of unethical, bullying behavior . She fired a librarian in her hometown of Wasilla because the librarian refused to ban books. She also fired a subordinate for refusing to fire her ex-brother-in-law, who happened to be involved in a bitter divorce with Palin’s sister. Newsweek reports that a judge had to tell her numerous times to stop harassing her ex-brother-in-law.
5) She refuses to talk to the press. Why? Because she admitted just a few months ago that she doesn’t know what the Vice President does. You won’t hear anything coming from her lips but canned speeches. In her famous canned speech during the RNC, she actually quoted famous anti-Semite Westbrook Pegler, who was kicked out of the John Birch society for being, well, a famous anti-Semite.
6) She can’t open her mouth without telling a lie. She keeps repeating that she opposed the Bridge to Nowhere, when the fact is that she supported it. In 2006, she ran for governor on a platform that included her strong SUPPORT for the BRIDGE TO NOWHERE. Despite the fact that the bridge was ultimately killed, Alaska KEPT $171 million federal dollars that were given to the state for Palin’s Bridge to Nowhere. That’s right she kept the money! View the CNN clip exposing Palin’s lies here. She keeps saying she opposes earmarks, despite the fact that it’s common knowledge by now that she got $27 million in earmarks for her town of 6,500, and that Alaska has received more dollars in earmarks per person during her governorship than any other state. In fact, she hired a lobbyist to press for these earmarks. When she took office as the mayor of Wasilla, her town was in the black. When she left, it was deeply in debt.
7) She likes shooting defenseless animals from helicopters, even though most of the people in her state oppose it.
8) She refuses to put polar bears on the endangered species list.

There are more. I could go on. And on. But this should be enough to give you nightmares.

  1. She is indeed very frightening. And just as frightening is the way she has been received in some quarters as some kind of “breath of fresh air.” I hope that her act grows stale quickly — there isn’t a lot of time.

  2. Bryan Russell says:

I wonder what McCain was thinking? I may not be a big fan of his, but I respect him on certain issues. But the more I hear about this woman the wackier she seems… Did McCain really need the Fundamentalist support that badly?

I suppose it’s created headlines. And the only bad publicity is no publicity. I wonder how long the swell will last, and how far it will crash before election time?

  3. I have this fear that the election is going to be decided by a group of voters who gleefully accept the notion that a “community organizer” is a bad thing.

In this election, I think we have a choice between making history, or repeating it.

In any case, John McCain is a man who can lead America into the TWENTIETH Century.

  4. What scares me more than Palin are the people that want her as VP. No matter what you explain to them, they are determined to put this wacko, empty headed, cult person in office.
